DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 3rd meeting of the year for the Alaska Chapter of ASSP!\n\nCEUs will be granted for attendees. Lunch will be provided free of charge.\n\nTopic: Advancements in Fire Extinguishing Agents\n\nPresented by: Erik van Elburg\, Operations Manager at Yukon Fire (YFPS)\n\nThis presentation will cover how fire-extinguishing agents and systems suppress fire and how extinguishing technology has evolved. Attendees will also learn how to match the appropriate fire-suppression technologies to fire hazards and how to evaluate these technologies by comparing their extinguishing mechanisms\, benefits\, drawbacks\, environmental considerations\, and applicable codes or standards.\n\nAs Operations Manager at Yukon Fire Protection\, Erik oversees business operations to ensure that employees have the tools and training they need. He also focuses on consistent client service\, including timely inspection report and repair delivery. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2015. He has prior experience as a fire sprinkler and fire pump designer\, project manager\, and fire alarm installation technician. He holds State of Alaska Fire Permits covering water-based system\, fire alarm\, special hazard\, and extinguisher inspections and maintenance and is ABPA certified for Backflow Preventer testing. He is a member of ICC\, NFPA\, and ASSP. Outside of work\, he advocates for his daughter and others with Down Syndrome as Vice President of the Alaska Down Syndrome Network. He enjoys target sports\, biking\, golf and horseback riding and developing applications that help businesses and individuals manage employees and assets.\n\nCan't join us in person?
