February 2019 Luncheon

Feb 05, 2019

Please join us on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 11:30am – 1pm, for our monthly Alaska Chapter ASSP luncheon meeting.  Remember, we are now meeting at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Boulevard, Anchorage, AK  99508.

After networking with your peers and eating a great lunch, we will have an opportunity to listen to a presentation from our guest speaker James Boretti, CSP.  James is the Regional Vice President for Region I of ASSP and he will be presenting on State of the Region, ASSP, & Business Case for Safety: Examples Lived for Success.  Below is a summary of the presentation.

Why do organizations undertake safety efforts? And how does membership in ASSP bring value to me?  This presentation will explore organizational motivations for safety, discuss “business” considerations in decision-making, and share examples of aligning organizational techniques to integrate safety without compromising your safety values.  We will also explore the various ways members can avail themselves of the professional development and networking opportunities ASSP provides in building toward success.  We will share what Region 1 does to support that effort and discuss why we join as members and what we value from ASSP.

 The presentation will discuss:

  • Motivations: for safety in our organizations: why do they do it
  • Examples: Shared experiences in overcoming barriers that leads to safety integration
  • Society: Importance of your membership in ASSP and how that helps you succeed

Attendees will walk away with shared examples they can build upon for continued success, a better understanding of the Region does for them, and how they can get more from their membership and volunteerism.

Cost (with meal): $20.00 if you RSVP, $25.00 at the door, $10.00 for ASSP Student Members.
