April Monthly Meeting – Verizon Mobile Switching Center Tour

Come join us for a tour of the Verizon Mobile Switching Center with Todd Davis. TD is a retired Airforce Lieutenant Colonel. He holds the role as Associate Director and leads the Network Assurance team based in Alaska. TD will be conducting the tour of the Verizon facility and giving a briefing of the following:

-Verizon MSC (Mobile Switching Center) Functionality and Purpose
-Switch Room , Equipment Racks, Peripherals and switching gear
-Battery Room, See up close the large scale batteries strings which provide DC backup power for all telco equipment.
-Power Room, See the AC Power room with large fuse boxes in the event of large surges in Commercial Power
-Generator Room, See the backup generation this facility is powered with in the event of Commercial Power fail.
– Discuss the Verizon Disaster Response equipment and mobile assets
– Discuss the Verizon Drone program purpose and functionality

We will meet at the Switch Center at 11:30 on April 15, 2025 at 635 East 40th Avenue. The Chapter will not be providing lunch for this tour but feel free to bring a lunch.
