Tim is probably the most experienced Industrial Hygienist in Alaska and has a wealth of knowledge to share on the subject. He retired with 35 years of experience as a health and safety professional and an industrial hygienist. Tim has an extensive resume, working in various industries in the public and private sectors, including ten years in the Alaska oil and gas sector. In addition to his roles as an Industrial hygienist, he was AK DHSS Chief of Injury Prevention and Emergency Medical Services and Deputy Director to the US Department of State’s Agency Safety and Health Office. Before that, he was the Assistant Chief for AKOSH Consultation and Training Program.

Tim will talk to the Chapter about sampling methods and strategies for the non-CIH safety professional. He will provide an overview of practical tools, such as using noise meters, four gas meters, passive air sampling through the use of badges, essential evaluation of indoor air quality and ventilation, basic tools for ergonomic assessments, and when it is appropriate to recommend respiratory protection for our employees. In addition, Tim will discuss simple sampling options to complement and maintain health and safety programs and when to consider using a CIH for more in-depth industrial hygiene sampling and analysis.
